The Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the victory of local and international companies with licenses to detect minerals at the locations of Jabal Sayed and stones that extend over an area of 4788 square kilometers, as part of the ministry’s plan to accelerate the pace of exploring and exploiting mineral wealth in the Kingdom, which is valued at 9.3 trillion riyals (2.47 trillion dollars).
The winning companies included:
- Ajlan Nurin and his two brothers for mining, and obtained a detection license at the southern Al -Hajjar site.
- Artar Company, the Gold and Minerals Company Ltd. and the fully owned Jakaranda Company for Hancock Prosbeng, Australia, and won the disclosure license at the Northern Al -Hajjar site.
- The Indian Mining Company, Fida to extend – which is one of the largest mining companies in the world – has obtained the first detection license in the Jabal Sahil belt.
- The alliance of Ajlan and his brothers and Zijin Maining, which is among the 5 largest mining companies in the world, won the second disclosure license in the mountain belt.

This competition received 14 offers submitted by several international and local companies and alliances from companies that have passed the pre -qualification phase, and the offers submitted were evaluated according to criteria that included technical expertise, work programs provided, and social and environmental obligations.
The competition included several sites, including two licenses for a detection in the mountain belt, which extends over an area of 2892 square kilometers, and includes basic and valuable minerals, including copper, zinc, lead, gold and silver.
The competition included two licenses to be revealed at the Al -Hajjar site, located in the Wadi Chwas belt on an area of 1896 square kilometers, which contains copper, zinc, gold and silver.
Major companies
It is striking that major international mining companies get mining licenses for the first time in the Kingdom, as Zijin Maining and Hancock Prosting and Fida are to extend from among the major mining companies in the world, which confirms the attractiveness of the Saudi mining sector and the opportunities offered for exploration licenses competitions for major mining companies.
The Ministry confirmed that the total exploration spending by the winning companies reaches more than 366 million riyals (97.6 million dollars) during the next three years, in addition to more than 22 million riyals (5.86 million dollars), the companies pledged to spend on developing local communities close to mining sites, while contributing to creating job opportunities for the children of those areas.
