Satellite images taken between April 23 and July 7 show widespread destruction in industrial areas of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

Soba Industrial Zone

The images, taken in the new industrial zone in Soba, south of Khartoum, and broadcast by the Al Jazeera Network’s Sand Verification Agency, show repeated targeting and destruction of a number of factories since the beginning of June until July 6.

The agency indicated that the images showed widespread destruction in the Bahri Industrial Zone, which is the most affected industrial zone in Khartoum, and is also one of the largest industrial zones in Sudan.

As war and armed conflicts continue in many parts of the country, material losses are multiplying and the Sudanese economy is shrinking.

Sudan is going through the worst economic period in its history with massive damage to infrastructure, public facilities, homes and private property.

According to a report published by the Sudan News Agency on June 10, the Secretary-General of the Federation of Sudanese Chambers of Industry, Abbas Ali Al-Sayed, stated that the losses of the industrial sector cannot be assessed because the acts of sabotage, looting and destruction are still ongoing in the states of Khartoum and Al-Jazeera.
