A 50-year-old Texas woman is said to be in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times by a 12-year-old boy Saturday in front of her 7-year-old brother following a confrontation.
“I am sorry to the family. I am very sorry that my son committed this incident. And I pray for your health, for your well-being. My son suffers from mental problems,” the boy’s mother told Houston television station KPRC on Sunday.
The Harris County, Texas, sheriff on Sunday announced the filing of aggravated assault charges against a 12-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed a 59-year-old woman multiple times on Saturday with whom he had just been have a disagreement.
According to surveillance camera images obtained by the American channel KHOU, the preteen, followed by his 7-year-old little brother, first left the scene on a bicycle after the brief argument, before returning only a few minutes later dressed in surgical gloves to attack the woman, the “New York Post” reported.
The victim was quickly treated by emergency services after his brother arrived on scene shortly after the attack, but is said to be in critical condition, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
“He came at just the right time. He opened the door and saw that she had just been stabbed,” said the investigator in the case, Sergio Torres to KPRC, according to the American media.
Due to his young age, the 7-year-old boy is “not guilty by law,” said the sheriff, indicating however that child protection services had been involved in the case.
The disturbing crime suggests that the boy would be one more case to escape the system, while he had already caused trouble on several occasions according to the neighborhood, to the point where several had already been forced to involve the police.
“We tried to remain patient,” sighed a neighbor, Maddy Monsalve, to KHOU, according to the “NY Post.”
