Qatar signed, today, Wednesday, an agreement to purchase aircraft from the American Boeing Company for Qatar Airways, during the visit of US President Donald Trump to the country.
Donald Trump said that Qatar Airways had requested the purchase of more than 160 Boeing aircraft worth more than $ 200 billion.
“It is the largest order of aircraft in Boeing’s history. This is very good,” he added.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and President Trump, witnessed the signing ceremony of the agreement in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Today, Reuters reported an unnamed source as saying that Qatar Airways is expected to announce a deal to buy about 100 broad -body aircraft from Boeing.
Trump is visiting the State of Qatar on a Gulf tour that included the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to go later to the Emirates.
Boeing rose 1.83% to 207.15 dollars in the latest transactions, driven by the agreement that Trump said was the largest in the company’s history.
Qatar-American relations
The Qatari-American relations are witnessing a remarkable expansion in the energy, aviation, infrastructure, security and defense sectors, in addition to emerging areas such as the green economy, digital transformation and renewable energy.
Experts – the Qatar News Agency explored their opinions – that the data revealed by the National Planning Council showed that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries amounted to about 20 billion riyals during the year 2024, with Qatari exports to American markets in the range of 5.2 billion riyals, compared to its imports at the level of 14.8 billion riyals (dollars equivalent to 3.65 riyals).
The United States of America is one of the first ranks of the largest foreign investors in the State of Qatar, as its investments in the country contribute mainly to the development movement through more than 800 American companies operating in the Qatari market, including more than 120 companies with 100%US capital, adds the report of the Qatar News Agency.
Qatari investments in the United States – the agency’s report – confirms – one of the main axes in bilateral relations, as their value in recent years exceeded $ 10 billion in vital sectors that include technology, energy, real estate and financial services.
