Qatar Energy has signed a long-term agreement to supply urea to Cook Fertilizers Company, one of the leading companies in the field of fertilizer production and supply in the United States of America.
According to a statement by Qatar Energy, the agreement stipulates the supply of up to 0.74 million tons annually of urea to Kok Fertilizer Company.
The duration of the agreement is 15 years and will enter into force in July 2024, according to which urea of Qatari origin will be supplied to the agricultural sectors in the United States and other international markets.
Engineer Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Energy, said: “We are pleased to announce the signing of this long-term agreement with one of our important partners, which strengthens our long-standing relationship with Kok Fertilizers.”
He added, “This agreement represents an important step in supporting synergy and cooperation between us and in increasing growth and mutual value for both parties.”

For his part, Mark Luiters, Vice President of Kok Industries and President of Kok Fertilizers, said: “Qatar Energy has been an important partner of Kok Fertilizers for more than a decade, and we are pleased to strengthen our mutually beneficial relationship for years to come.”
He added, “This agreement is consistent with Cook Fertilizers’ long-term vision and represents a valuable opportunity to better serve our customers.”
According to Qatar Energy’s statement, this agreement highlights our strategy to “establish long-term relationships with leading and reliable companies in the fertilizer industry, and their commitment to supporting the global agricultural sector.”
Kok Fertilizers Company is a subsidiary of Kok Industries, which owns:
- Fertilizer plants in North America, Trinidad and Tobago and Morocco.
- Distribution facilities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and other international markets.
Qatar is the second largest global exporter of urea, and Qatar Fertilizer Company (QAFCO), a subsidiary of Qatar Energy, is the largest integrated producer of urea and ammonia from one location in the world.
