The American company “Cosmos Energy” announced on Monday the production of the first shipment of liquefied natural gas from the “turtle-Hmeim” field, the joint between the countries of Mauritania and Senegal.
The CEO of the company, Andrew Ji Engeles, said that gas production is a great achievement for the Governments of Mauritania, Senegal and Cosmos Energy.
He added that the export of LNG from the Harim field will take place in the first quarter of this year.
At the end of last December, the company announced that the gas flow phase from the wells to the production ship was to enter as a last stage before production, liquefaction and export.
The Hamim gas field located in the MENANA Senegalese Coast is an important and promising project for Mauritania and Senegal, and its total cost was $ 4.8 billion.
In its early stages, the field is expected to produce 2.3 million tons of liquefied gas annually, and on the horizon of 2028-2030, its production will reach 10 million tons annually.
British Petrolium “BB” accounts for 56% of the project, and USA Cosmos Energy is 27%, while Senegal has 10% and Mauritania 7%.
