A Rhode Island man in the United States, a member of a neo-Nazi group protesting against drag queens, was arrested on Monday for possession of child pornography.
Stephen Thomas Farrea, 34, is a member of the Nationalist Socialist Club-131 which opposes, among other things, story time with drag queens. Chanting slogans such as “Pedophiles, get off our streets,” the group claims to want to protect children during protests.
Mr. Farrea, who was already known to police for his connection to the far-right group, was arrested on May 24 for possession of child pornography, according to a Portsmouth police report in Rhode Island.
He allegedly participated in several Nationalist Socialist Club-131 actions that disrupted drag queen story times, protested COVID-19 restrictions and promoted white supremacy, according to The Boston Globe.
On April 12, the Portsmouth Police Investigations Division launched an investigation into Mr. Farrea after receiving credible information that he may be involved in the possession of child pornography, the report said. .
“After forensic analysis of Farrea’s electronic devices, it was revealed that Stephen Farrea possessed images of explicit sexual conduct between minors,” Portsmouth police said.
Mr. Farrea was charged with one count of possession of child pornography. Released on $5,000 secured bail and ordered to stay away from children, he is due to appear again on June 4.
