One of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives has been arrested in the United Kingdom, after more than 20 years on the run.
Daniel Andreas San Diego, a suspected animal rights extremist, was arrested on Monday at a property near woods in the Conwy area of Wales, CNN reports.
The 46-year-old is accused of planting two bombs that exploded about an hour apart on the campus of a biotechnology company in Emeryville, California, on August 28, 2003.
He is also accused of detonating another bomb at a food company in Pleasanton, California, a month later.
While the attacks organized by Daniel Andreas San Diego caused no casualties, the bomb detonated at the biotechnology company was intended to injure first responders, authorities said.
“The arrest of Daniel San Diego, who spent more than 20 years on the run for two San Francisco area bombings, shows that no matter how long it takes, the FBI will find you and hold you accountable “FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement.
In 2009, Daniel Andreas San Diego was included on the FBI’s most wanted terrorist list with a $250,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
