In a video published on X, a Boeing 737 appeared to disintegrate in mid-flight. A sheet of metal covering one of the plane’s engines was torn off during takeoff.

Once the crew members realized the situation, the aircraft quickly returned to its starting point in Denver.

In a statement, the United States Aviation Federation said the engine cowling hit a wing flap when the plane took off.

The transport company apologized.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay. Our maintenance teams are examining the aircraft,” she said.

This is the second incident this week for the American airline. On Thursday, an “engine incident” was reported just before another Boeing 737 took off.

Fortunately, no people were injured in either event.
