(Washington) The US Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it had filed a complaint against the State of New Jersey and its Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill for “obstructing” its immigration policy.

“Federal agents risk their lives to protect the citizens of New Jersey, and yet New Jersey leaders adopt policies designed to obstruct and endanger law enforcement,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement from her department.
“States cannot deliberately interfere with our efforts to deport illegal aliens and arrest criminals, New Jersey’s sanctuary policies will not hold,” Mr.me Jumped.
The Trump administration blames Mr.me Sherrill for signing an executive order two weeks ago prohibiting federal Immigration Enforcement (ICE) agents from making arrests on state-owned property in New Jersey.
The 21-page complaint, seen by AFP, considers that the decree of the Democratic governor, whose name is incorrectly spelled “Sherill”, “constitutes an intolerable obstacle” to the application of immigration laws.
“Such blatant disregard for federal laws in effect for more than 30 years is not a mere political act, but a deliberate action that endangers the public safety of all Americans,” the complaint alleges.
“What the federal government should be focusing on right now, instead of attacking states like New Jersey that are working to keep citizens safe, is training its ICE agents,” Ms.me Sherrill.
The Justice Department’s complaint is the latest action in the Trump administration’s fight against state and local restrictions on immigration enforcement.
Last year, the Justice Department filed lawsuits against Minnesota and Colorado, as well as cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Denver, considered “sanctuary cities” that protect undocumented immigrants.
Last May, the Trump administration sued four New Jersey cities considered “sanctuary cities.”
