A man looking for gold has set up camp in a public park in Seattle, USA, where he has built a ‘mine’.

The 41-year-old homeless man, Steven Irwin, is already facing criminal charges for excavating a portion of the same park with a stolen excavator in October 2023, reported local media KOMO News.

Mr. Irwin is said to be convinced of the presence of gold and diamonds in the hills of the park. Of course, this Seattle public park contains no such gems.

He claims to have had permission to build his camp this time. The latter is now equipped with several generators, fireplaces, propane heaters, a washing machine, and even a treadmill.

This installation was described, during an interview with KOMO News, as a “time bomb” by a speaker from “We Heart Seattle”, an organization that helps the homeless. The latter is concerned for Mr. Irwin’s safety.

Several furious neighbors testified in the media that they had been asking the police to intervene for several months without success.
