US President Joe Biden made another gaffe in a Philadelphia radio interview on Thursday when he described himself as “the first black woman to serve the country with a black president.”

The 81-year-old politician made the mistake while speaking on the microphone of the African-American radio station WURD, as part of a vast media tour for the United States’ Independence Day.
Clearly wanting to court black voters, Joe Biden certainly wanted to highlight the fact that he had been vice president during the two terms of Barack Obama, the first black president in the history of the United States, and then that he appointed the very first black American vice president, Kamala Harris, when he himself acceded to the White House.
Nevertheless, the two elements seem to have jostled in the octogenarian’s mind, who instead declared: “You know, I’m proud to be the first vice president, the first black woman, to serve under a black president.”
However, this was not the only awkward statement Mr. Biden made during the interview.
In fact, he claimed to be “the first president to be elected in the state of Delaware, when he was young.”
The latter also said that he understood the desire for representation of the African-American community, because before the election of John F. Kennedy, he did not believe that a Catholic could be president.
Biden, President or Vice President?
Joe Biden, however, was not the only one to make a mistake in a statement on Thursday.
While attending a July 4 celebration at the White House, Kamala Harris began introducing Mr. Biden as vice president.
The latter immediately recovered by thanking “the extraordinary President of the United States, Joe Biden.”
