Former US first lady Melania Trump announced on Thursday the release of her “deeply personal” book to “set the record straight.”

The release of the book, simply titled Melaniais scheduled for September 24.

Melania Trump has so far been largely absent from the public sphere as her husband, Donald Trump, campaigns for the upcoming US presidential election. Her last appearance was at the Republican convention in Milwaukee in July.

In a video posted to X on Thursday, Mme Trump says writing her memoir was a “deeply personal” and “introspective” experience, as she has always been very private.

She says she feels “a responsibility to clarify the facts” and believes that “it is important to share (her) perspective and the truth.”

The images, in black and white, show her accompanied by children or at more formal events alongside Donald Trump, when she was first lady.

“My story. My perspective. The truth,” it says at the end.

Although the book is due out in late September, it is available for pre-order now on her website. The book “offers an intimate portrait of a woman who lived an extraordinary life,” it also says.
