Tourism revenues in Morocco increased by 1.6% during the first five months of this year, recording a value of $4.13 billion, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Continuous growth

Tourism Minister Fatima Zahra Ammor said, “Tourism revenues continue to grow, which is in line with the ministry’s expectations for the current year.”

Amur said that the actors are required to “maintain mobilization of efforts with professionals and partners, continue to develop high-quality tourism experiences and provide attractive and income-generating offers.”

The Minister called for increased engagement in local experiences “so that local people can benefit more from this momentum.”

Morocco announced earlier last month that the number of foreign tourists visiting the Kingdom increased by 15% during the first 5 months of 2024 to 5.9 million from the beginning of this year until the end of last May.

“Receiving 772,000 additional tourists during the first five months of this year (compared to the same period in 2023) represents an exceptional achievement for the sector,” the Minister of Tourism said in a statement.

2030 forecasts

Morocco says its tourism revival plan envisions welcoming 26 million tourists annually by 2030.

Tourism is the second source of foreign exchange in Morocco in 2023, after remittances from expatriates abroad, amounting to nearly $11.5 billion, according to data from the Kingdom’s Exchange Office.

Tourism continues to achieve continuous development, especially after the sector’s revenues broke $10 billion for the first time in 2023, after receiving 14.5 million tourists.
