Morocco launched a new program to support foreign trade between 2025 and 2027, aimed at establishing new export companies and achieving an additional $ 8.4 billion in exports.

This came during a meeting in Rabat, chaired by Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhenouch to study the “foreign trade map”, according to a government statement.

The statement pointed out that “the program aims to make trade in the service of growth and employment, stimulate exports and advance the national product.”

The state clerk in charge of foreign trade, Omar Hajira, presented the mentioned road map, which “is based on 3 strategic goals.”

These goals are to “create about 76 thousand new job opportunities, and expand the export base by creating 400 new export companies annually, in addition to achieving an additional 84 billion dirhams (8.4 billion dollars) in the field of exports.”

The new road map includes, according to the statement, “6 axes, including accelerating the digitization of foreign trade, creating regional offices to keep pace with it, and promoting the exports of traditional industry and social and solidarity.”

According to official statistics, Moroccan exports recorded 455 billion dirhams (45.5 billion dollars) during 2024, an increase of 5.8% compared to 2023.

The car sector tops the Moroccan exports list abroad, then phosphate, then agriculture.

Tourism

In another economic context, the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism announced that the number of foreign tourists who visited the country between January and April 2025 reached about 5.7 million.

This came in a statement by the Ministry, in which it confirmed that “this number represents an increase of 23% compared to the first 4 months of 2024.”

Morocco recorded the entry of about a million additional tourists during this period, as “these results are naturally putting the country among the most dynamic tourist destinations in the world,” according to the statement.

Tourism is the second source of foreign exchange in Morocco during 2024, after the transfers of Moroccan expatriates abroad.

During 2024, Morocco succeeded in attracting 17.4 million tourists, an increase of 20% compared to 2023, to lead the Kingdom to tourist destinations in Africa during the past year.
