Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alp Arslan Bayraktar said yesterday, Thursday, that Turkey and Morocco have common challenges and potential in the field of energy.
Bayrakdar added –Following official meetings in the Kingdom- During his visit to Rabat, he held a very important meeting, during which a step was taken that would strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy and natural resources.
The Turkish Minister revealed that two agreements were signed jointly in the fields of energy and mining, pointing out the existence of historical, commercial and cultural relations between the two countries.
He also stated that during his visit to Morocco, he discussed how to mobilize the two countries’ joint potential in the field of renewable energy, and implement projects under the signed agreements.
Bayrakdar pointed out that a technical meeting between the two parties in the field of energy will be held at the beginning of next July, expressing his hope that more concrete projects will be presented.
He stressed the possibility of developing projects and working together to raise trade relations between the two countries to a higher level.
For her part, Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, said that the two sides held a series of meetings that would develop the new phase between the two countries.
She added that the meeting provided the opportunity to think about the great challenges and opportunities facing Turkey and Morocco, and stated that the energy and mining agreements would constitute an important opportunity for the peoples of the two countries to overcome the difficulties of energy transfer.
The Moroccan Minister pointed out that relations between the two countries have witnessed tangible development over the past two decades, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of energy transition due to the similarity of challenges between the two countries and the significant capabilities they have.
According to Moroccan Energy, these two signed agreements constitute “a renewal of the two countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, through the exchange of information, expertise, training and capacity building, as well as the development of technology and joint projects and the promotion of investments” in the field of energy transition and natural resources management.
