(Minneapolis) Three people, including a civil rights lawyer, were arrested after a demonstration against the American immigration police (ICE) in a church in Minnesota, American authorities announced Thursday, on the sidelines of a visit by the American vice president to the state.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem posted images on X of the Sunday arrests of attorney Nekima Levy Armstrong and another woman, Chauntyll Louisa Allen. According to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, on the same social network, a man named William Kelly was also apprehended.
They are accused of having tried “to prevent (parishioners) from practicing their religion”, writes Mme Noem.
“Listen carefully: WE DO NOT TOLERATE ATTACKS AGAINST PLACES OF WORSHIP,” commented Mme Jumped.
JD Vance is traveling to Minnesota on Thursday to meet with ICE agents, as well as local figures and business leaders.
On Sunday, demonstrators disrupted the service at a church in Saint Paul, capital of Minnesota (north), in which they believed that the deputy director of the local ICE office was serving as pastor.
“President Trump will not tolerate intimidation and harassment of Christians in their places of worship,” responded White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on social media.
In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, Mme Levy Armstrong said the Trump administration was “trying to turn a peaceful, non-violent protest into a crime.”
The federal immigration police have been carrying out a major operation in Minnesota for several weeks, which is opposed by part of the population.
The death of Renee Good, a 37-year-old American woman, killed in her car by an ICE agent on January 7, crystallized tensions.
Based on videos, the demonstrators, as well as local Democratic authorities, dispute the official thesis according to which the police officer, who was not suspended, was in self-defense.
