(New York) An American immigration police officer shot and killed a woman who allegedly tried to hit him and his colleagues with her vehicle during an operation in Minneapolis, in the north of the country, the Department of Homeland Security said on Wednesday, citing an “act of domestic terrorism”.

While federal Immigration Enforcement (ICE) agents were conducting “targeted operations in Minneapolis, rioters began to block agents and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers with the intent of killing them – an act of domestic terrorism,” the department wrote in a statement.
“An ICE agent, fearing for his life, the lives of his colleagues and the safety of the public, fired shots in self-defense,” the department continued.
He hit the woman, who died from her injuries.
The control operations carried out by the immigration police for months across the United States to reinforce the expulsion measures of undocumented immigrants regularly provoke mobilizations of people opposed to this migration policy, who sometimes try to prevent the police operations.
