The employee of a small grocery store in Minneapolis, Minnesota, met a tragic end Friday afternoon after being attacked by a customer who impaled him with a golf club.
The 66-year-old man was behind the counter of the Oak Grove grocery store when he was the target of this tragedy, reported the New York Daily News.
Police arrived on scene around 1 p.m. and found the victim “with a golf club impaled through his torso.” The sixty-year-old was quickly taken to a hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
“It appears that (the suspect) went behind the counter and began assaulting and bludgeoning the person behind the counter in a very grotesque manner,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O told media. ‘Hara.
According to witnesses, the 44-year-old suspect entered a building located across the street, the police chief added.
He barricaded himself for nearly six hours before agreeing to surrender to authorities. He was charged with murder following his arrest.
The victim, who was a former professional dancer, was known as a “dedicated volunteer” in the neighborhood, said Jana Metge, director of the nonprofit Citizens for a Loring Park Community.
He was “a shining light in the neighborhood,” she said, according to the American media.
