McDonald’s is preparing to launch a $5 meal offer in the United States in an effort to attract low-income customers, according to Bloomberg.

The affordable menu offering could include a MacChicken or McDouble with fries and a drink, according to a source who wanted to remain anonymous.

In Time Square, as an indication, a meal consisting of a McDouble with fries and a drink costs US$13.47.

It was not disclosed when the offer would be available. It is impossible to know if this $5 meal offer will be available in the chain’s approximately 13,500 restaurants in the United States.

McDonald’s did not respond to interview requests from New York Post who wanted details on this new measure.
