The 25-year-old man was arrested by local authorities. He was charged with indecent assault, as he also undressed at the time of the incident.
He is believed to have drunk several glasses of whisky before the flight and during a stopover, which could have made his condition worse, according to police.
The plane was flying from Buffalo, New York, to New Hampshire. The airline confirmed that the plane took off again shortly after the emergency landing.
During the robbery, the man claimed to have a “medical urination problem,” according to the criminal complaint.
He was released after making his first court appearance in Buffalo, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York said.
