On Friday, the American giant filed a lawsuit in New York against nine suppliers, including Cargill, JBS and Tyson, reported the New York Post. McDonald’s has alleged that suppliers have been violating antitrust laws since 2015.
The nine suppliers allegedly conspired to slaughter fewer cattle, which contributed significantly to raising the price of beef, according to McDonald’s allegations.
In 2021, Tyson Foods reported an 18% margin in its beef business, according to the suit. This would be nine times higher than in 2014. This increase would be more than 25% for JBS USA during the same period, the fast food company alleged.
