An American couple made an impressive discovery while magnet fishing in a lake in Queens, New York: a safe containing several thousand dollars.

James Kane and Barbie Agostini were going about their business Friday afternoon in Flushing Meadows Corona Park when they pulled out of the water a safe containing the equivalent of US$100,000 ($136,300). $) in $100 bills, Global News reported. However, the silver was damaged in the water.

The couple then contacted the authorities and an investigation was carried out determining that there was no prima facie criminal element. Agostini said the safe was “obviously stolen,” but there was no way to prove it or find its owner.

In an interview with NY1, James Kane and Barbie Agostini, who are magnet fishing enthusiasts, explained that they have found several safes in the past, but none of them were filled with agents.

Sharing their findings on YouTube, the couple have already found an old grenade dating back to World War II. Fortunately, the device was not active since it had corroded in the water and there was no more gunpowder inside.
