Relatives of a New York family doctor who died of a severe food allergy in October at the Walt Disney World parks have accused employees of negligence for confirming to them that the dishes contained no allergens.
“Amy had a long life ahead of her, and she and (her husband) Jeffrey Piccolo were planning to start a family. This should never have happened. “Jeff is bringing this case, in part, to prevent a tragedy like this from happening to another family,” the family’s lawyer, Brian Denney, told CNN on Monday.
It is in the name of his wife, the DD Kanokporn Tangsuan – nicknamed Amy by those close to her – that the man filed a negligence lawsuit last week, accusing the Walt Disney World parks as well as the Irish restaurant Raglan Road Pub of not having properly warned the table of allergens present in food.

However, the 42-year-old woman and her partner, who were accompanied by the latter’s mother, had checked and rechecked “several times” each element with the server, who confirmed to them that the dishes could be made without nuts or products. dairy, CNN noted in the lawsuit filed in Orange County, Florida.
Despite this, shortly after consuming a vegan donut, scallops, onion rings and vegan shepherd’s pie, the woman reportedly began experiencing “severe difficulty breathing” before collapsing on the floor of Planet Hollywood.
And even while administering her EpiPen herself, she would have succumbed to the severe acute allergic reaction, while her death was attributed to “anaphylaxis due to high levels of dairy and nuts in her body”, according to what a forensic doctor would have indicated in his report.
While the total amount sought by the lawsuit has not been revealed, the victim’s “devastated” spouse is reportedly seeking damages in excess of US$50,000 from Disney Parks, which owns the restaurant, and the establishment, for not having properly trained its staff.
In her obituary, many of the victim’s former patients took the trouble to pay tribute to the family doctor, who marked many with her humor and kindness, according to testimonies.
