American pop superstar Justin Timberlake appeared in court on Tuesday for drunken driving in an ultra-upscale area east of New York, local prosecutors said.
On Monday night, “Justin Timberlake was arrested in Sag Harbor for driving while intoxicated” and, in accordance with American criminal procedure, “was arraigned in Sag Harbor Village Court and released at liberty after having admitted the facts,” confirmed in an email to AFP the prosecutor’s office of the New York county of Suffolk, at the end of the big island of Long Island.
The 43-year-old star will have to appear again before the local courts, by videoconference, on July 26.
Late this afternoon, the Sag Harbor Police Department released the singer’s mugshot.

According to the press people and the local television stations which were the first to report the information, Justin Timberlake was arrested in this town in this very privileged corner of the Hamptons, at the wheel of a car around midnight:30.
Some 150 km east of the megacity New York, at the very end of Long Island, the Hamptons are known for being home to the sumptuous residences of great American and foreign fortunes.
According to the police report to which CBS had access, the singer, producer and actor was “intoxicated”, his “eyes bloodshot, while his breath smelled of alcohol”. The star reportedly replied to the police officer that he had “drank a Martini and followed (his) friends home.”
Member of the boy band NSYNC (1995-2002), the “prince of pop” then launched a solo career as a singer, songwriter, producer and actor which propelled him to the rank of global music icon.
Justin Timberlake has won ten Grammy Awards and four Emmys, the Oscars of music and television.
The star was in a relationship with Britney Spears between 1999 and 2002 and the American singer recounted last October in her memoirs that she had to have an abortion, reluctantly and at the request of Justin Timberlake, during their relationship.
