The Republican leader of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, showed his support for Donald Trump on Tuesday by going to his trial in New York, and accusing the opposing camp of exploiting justice against the candidate of the American right.

“It is impossible for anyone observing this objectively to deny that the justice system in our country has been used against President Trump,” said Mike Johnson during a short speech in front of the court where the billionaire is appearing.
“The system is using every tool at its disposal right now to punish one president and protect another,” he added.
Mr. Trump is on trial for concealing a $130,000 payment to former porn actress Stormy Daniels to buy her silence at the very end of the 2016 presidential campaign.
He must face Democratic President Joe Biden in the November presidential election and continues to denounce a “witch hunt”.
A terminology taken up by Mike Johnson, who spoke on Tuesday of “electoral interference” and “political trials” – Mr. Trump is the target of several other lawsuits.
