Dozens of Palestinians have been killed and hundreds injured as Israeli forces intensify their attacks in Gaza ahead of a truce that took effect Friday morning.

The Gaza Health Ministry on Thursday reported 27 deaths following a strike on the Abu Hussein school. Run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the school in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza housed many displaced Palestinians.

Israeli forces also launched new attacks on the Indonesian hospital, targeting the main entrance and power generators.

Ashraf al-Qudra, a ministry spokesman, said the hospital had come under “intense shelling” and “large parts of the building” were targeted.

More than 200 patients, medical staff and displaced people were currently at Beit Lahiya hospital, which has been under siege for a week.

The Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 14,854, the government media office in the blockaded enclave announced Thursday.

About 7,000 people are still missing, including more than 4,700 children, the media office said.
