A Florida plastic surgeon was arrested Monday for the involuntary manslaughter of his wife, whom he allegedly operated on just before her death.

On November 21, emergency services were at the Restore Plastic Surgery clinic in Gulf Breeze. Benjamin Brown was operating on his wife, Hilary Brown, when her vital signs dropped. She then began to convulse.

She was quickly transported to a local hospital where she was kept alive on a ventilator for seven days.

“After a thorough investigation in conjunction with the District 1 Medical Examiner’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office, our detectives requested an arrest warrant for Dr. Benjamin Brown,” the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office said. in a Facebook post.

The plastic surgeon was arrested Monday before being released on $50,000 bail, according to NBC News.

At the time of the incident, Benjamin Brown was performing scar revision, arm liposuction, lip injection and ear adjustment procedures on Hilary Brown. According to health department documents obtained by NBC News, the woman prepared the IV bags herself and ingested a “handful of multi-colored pills,” including Valium.

The victim became agitated and his feet twitched. She would also have pointed out that her vision was blurring and that she saw orange, according to the same documents.

“Agitation, muscle twitching, and blurred vision are all early signs of lidocaine toxicity,” the health department noted.

According to witnesses, Benjamin Brown “continued to inject unknown quantities of lidocaine”, even after the first signs of overdose. He only stopped when his wife had a seizure and cardiac arrest.

He would have waited before calling 911 and beginning resuscitation maneuvers, reported the American media.
