The international press continues to shed light on the developments in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, the course of the field battles and their repercussions on the goals set by Tel Aviv, as well as the disastrous conditions in Gaza.
In this context, the American newspaper “The Wall Street Journal” indicated that there is no end in sight for Israel’s war against the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and it quoted experts that Israel’s primary goal of the war will be difficult to achieve soon, even if Israeli forces seize control of… The entire area of Gaza.
According to the newspaper, war studies researcher Ofer Friedman says that Hamas enjoyed a high degree of independence for 20 years to develop its capabilities and prepared itself for war knowing exactly where the fighting would take place, all of which makes the goal of destroying Hamas more difficult from a military standpoint.
As for the American newspaper, The Washington Post, it said that families in Gaza are struggling to stave off famine, and it quotes some residents as saying that it is possible to see people dying of hunger in the streets if the current situation continues.
It quoted World Food Program spokesman Steve Taravella as saying that the scale and speed of this crisis are unprecedented in the modern era.
In turn, the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” opined in its editorial that Israel should not return settlement to the Gaza Strip, saying that “the racist wing in the government and the Knesset is endangering Israel’s existence and turning it into a pariah state in the world.”
The newspaper added, “This is evidence of the urgent need to hold general elections as soon as possible and topple the disastrous government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”
For its part, the Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post” published the results of an opinion poll that showed that a new party of reserve soldiers would shake up Israeli politics.
The poll revealed that this new party, headed by a number of candidates with military backgrounds, will enjoy strong support and may win 10 seats in the upcoming elections.
The American magazine “Newsweek” published an article written by Daniel DePetris in which he said that the conflicts in Gaza and Yemen are linked to each other and do not believe the administration of US President Joe Biden in this regard.
DePetris added that the Houthis have had a consistent position since last October, that attacks in the Red Sea will continue as long as the war in Gaza continues, and the same applies to attacks against American bases in Iraq and Syria, but the Biden administration is ignoring this fact as a threat to it.
As for the British newspaper The Guardian, it published an article by Chris McGrail, in which he said that US President Joe Biden has shown that he is willing to pay a political price in exchange for his support for Israel.
He added, “It would therefore be an exaggeration to rely on Biden to wage a confrontation against Netanyahu’s intransigence, which confirms to the rest of the world more than ever that the United States has chosen to side with repression.”
For its part, an editorial in the Chinese newspaper “China Daily” criticized the United States’ use of human rights as a weapon, and said that the silence of some developed countries regarding the ongoing human rights violations in the Gaza Strip clearly shows the double standards they follow.
The Chinese newspaper adds that Washington resorts to politicizing human rights in some cases as a means of pressuring foreign governments and even overthrowing them.
