Democrats accuse Donald Trump of inciting people to violence against Joe Biden by sharing a video showing the president tied up in the back of a van, as if he had been kidnapped.

The said video was shared on Friday by the former Republican president on his social network Truth. He specified that the van – displaying promotional stickers from Trump’s 2024 campaign – was seen Thursday in Long Island, New York.

“This image of Donald Trump is the kind of crap you post when you call for bloodshed or when you tell the Proud Boys to ‘stand back and stand there,’” said Michael Tyler, communications director for the Biden campaign, referring to the right-wing group involved in the 2021 Capitol attack, according to The Telegraph.

It was also pointed out that the ex-president would often call for political violence and that it would be enough for his supporters to take him seriously for there to be another attack on democracy.

For his part, the spokesperson for Donald Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, responded by accusing the Democrats of inciting violence.

“This photo was in the back of a van traveling on the highway,” he said. “Democrats and crazed lunatics have not only called for vile violence against President Trump and his family, they are actually using the justice system against him.”
