Enas Warsh Agha, a mother of four children, faces a daunting challenge to welcome her fifth child after about two weeks, amid extremely harsh conditions since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7 of last year.
Enas, whose house was destroyed by the occupation in Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip, lives in a tent inside a school, and she takes her steps with difficulty, and she suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes resulting from pregnancy, in addition to health complications.
“The cold is unforgiving, and my fear for the safety of my four children increases with each passing day,” Enas said, adding, “I am confused about how to protect them from the cold, let alone the arrival of my fifth child.”
As for the father, while trying to light a small fire inside the tent to warm his children, he said, “Rainwater seeps into our tent, and we struggle to light some wood for warmth.”
The Palestinian family lives in difficult living conditions in light of the lack of housing to shelter them, the unemployment of the father, the lack of a hand, and the needs of the expected new baby, which increases the burdens of the displaced Palestinian family.
Since October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has, as of Thursday, left 27,840 martyrs and 67,317 injured, most of them children and women, according to the Palestinian authorities, and caused massive destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to the United Nations.
