Polish farmers are once again demonstrating against the import of Ukrainian grain. Unfair competition according to them, which threatens their production.
In Poland, farmers demonstrate again against Ukrainian grain imports… According to them, this influx of cereals sold cheaper than their products on the Polish market endangers their production and their means of subsistence. They are therefore demanding subsidies and a reduction in agricultural taxes.
“Compensation, an additional payment is necessary here, for a simple reason: this price is not the fault of the farmers, it is the fault of the previous government which did not guard the border, did not ensure that trade in Poland could function normally, agricultural markets in Poland are ruined” said Michal Kolodziejczak, leader of the farmers’ union.
Polish farmers have been blocking several crossing points on the Ukrainian border for three weeks to denounce what they consider to be unfair competition. Negotiations between Poland, Ukraine and the EU on this subject, which began a few months ago, have so far not resulted in an agreement.
