A violent explosion that occurred Wednesday at a gas station in Cardiff, Idaho, in the United States, has left at least two people seriously injured, according to authorities quoted by the New York Post.
Two other victims are presumed dead, according to the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office. The intensity of the blaze, combined with the lack of cell service in the rural area, has prevented officers from fully assessing the situation.
The incident, which was reported to police around 3 p.m., required an air ambulance to transport two seriously burned people to a hospital outside the city.
Two other victims were transported to local health facilities. The nature of their injuries is unknown.
Several people were inside the building at the time of the explosion, authorities said.
According to the gas station manager, the injured who were transported by air ambulance were employees of the company.
“There were customers who were trapped. We are praying for everyone involved, and we thank the first responders and everyone who tried to help us,” he told the New York Post.
The authorities are still trying to shed light on this tragedy.
