One person was seriously injured after a fire ripped through a shopping kiosk near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.

Images shared on social media show a large plume of black smoke escaping from the kiosk.

One person was taken to the hospital by helicopter with serious, non-life-threatening injuries, the New York Post reports.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control before the kiosk’s propane tanks exploded.

The District of Columbia Fire Department shared images on X (formerly Twitter) of the completely destroyed kiosk following the fire.

The cause of this incident remains unknown at this time.
