A 15-year-old ballerina who was enjoying the sun on Saturday to practice water skiing in Miami, Florida, was reportedly mowed to death by the driver of a boat, who neither slowed down nor stopped, according to witnesses.
“You were taken from us far too soon and the world was robbed of everything you could have accomplished. But you will always be here with us, and your friends and family will carry your energy and your spirit forever,” wrote Matthew Adler, the young victim’s father, in a moving letter read at his funeral Monday, according to the “ New York Post.
Water skis on her feet, Ella Riley Adler was being pulled by a boat on Saturday in Biscayne Bay when the young ballerina allegedly lost her footing after falling into the water.
Except that at the same time, the young girl would have been hit head-on by a second boat, which would have continued its route without checking the state of the victim in the water, according to what the Conservation Commission of the Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) release Tuesday.
“The boat that hit Adler did not stop,” she said.
The teenager, who was still wearing her life jacket and skis on her feet, was reportedly struck by the center console of the boat, which lacerated her body, leaving her on the surface with “a lot of blood” coming from her body, according to what the first responders reported to the American media.
Unfortunately, the young ballerina, who enjoyed life by standing out within the classical dance company Miami City Ballet, would have succumbed to her injuries.
“We are heartbroken. Ella Adler shined in our classrooms and on our stages, and she embodied the mission of Ransom Everglades School. We wish peace and comfort to his family,” his high school testified on Facebook.
If the authorities had launched an appeal to the population to try to locate the boat involved in the hit-and-run, described as a light blue vessel with a dark blue background, they indicated that they had located a boat matching the description on Tuesday.
“The owner of the vessel is cooperating with the investigation,” the FWC said in writing, without identifying the individual.
For investigative purposes, the Commission has launched an ongoing appeal to witnesses who may have witnessed this hit-and-run or who may have captured video of the incident, to try to shed light on the situation.
