A 61-year-old man who fell to the bottom of a ravine was saved by his dog, who reportedly ran more than six kilometers to alert his family of the accident, the Daily Mail.
Brandon Garrett of Halfway was heading to a campsite in the US state of Oregon with his four dogs when his car got stuck in the 85-foot-deep ravine, according to the British media outlet.
As Mr. Garrett fought for his life, his dog Blue managed to get out of the wreckage of the vehicle. He walked the remaining miles to where his family was.
Seeing the animal arrive without its owner, the family automatically worried about the man. Blue eventually led her near the accident site, where the group called the police.
The individual had to spend the night in the ravine before the authorities came to rescue him. He was taken to hospital by helicopter.
According to the local sheriff’s office, the accident occurred after the driver “failed to make the appropriate maneuver during the turn, which led to the vehicle crashing.”
Mr. Garrett is now out of danger. His three other dogs were also found alive near the scene.
