Heavy snowfall has caused several fatal road accidents in recent days in Europe. In Cranzahl, in the Ore Mountains region in eastern Germany, a bus accident killed a 10-year-old child and seriously injured several people. The cause of the tragedy is not yet known, but police said many roads in the city had not yet been cleared.

Snow caused similar damage in the United Kingdom. In certain regions of the North of England, traffic remained paralyzed for several hours… Nearly 2,500 homes were deprived of electricity. Several shelters have been set up across the country to help people stranded by the snowfall.

In Krakow, the snow removal campaign has been going on for 3 days already and has already cost 2 million euros. More than 4,600 tons of salt were used. Since Saturday, 30 centimeters of snow have fallen on the city in southeastern Poland.

“We went out 68 times to remove broken trees and branches that fell under heavy snow, from roads, sidewalks and power lines. We had 80 road accidents in which 22 people were injured.” comments on the situation Captain Hubert Cieply, spokesperson for the Krakow fire brigade.

Heavy snowfall also disrupted traffic in Russia. In Yakutia, the mercury fell to -53 degrees.**Meteorologists estimate that these extremely low temperatures in the Yakutia region are expected to persist until the end of the week. In the neighboring region of Magadan, similar temperatures are expected in the coming days.
