An 18-year-old American student from New Jersey who placed hidden cameras in a shopping center toilet was arrested by local police on Tuesday.
Andy Cardenas is facing charges of invasion of privacy after a woman discovered one of the devices hidden in the restrooms of the Newport Center mall in Jersey City.
Investigators discovered at least 35 videos showing the victims, including four minors, using public restrooms, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. New York Post Wednesday.
In another video, a man and a woman are seen engaging in sexual acts in a bathroom, according to a criminal complaint, which does not specify how long ago these cameras were installed by the suspect.
One of the videos also showed the suspect installing a hidden camera in the JC Penney toilets, which is what led to his arrest, according to the prosecution, cited by the American media, adding that Cardenas is due back in court on October 22.
