A 30-year-old American man thought he could increase his sexual pleasure by inserting dried beans into his penis. It was a bad outcome for him: the man ended up in hospital for surgical extraction. Some cases of foreign bodies deliberately inserted into the urethra can be even more dramatic.

We are no longer surprised by certain bizarre sexual practices. But sometimes the consequences turn out to be very detrimental. A 30-year-old American man thought he could increase his sexual pleasure by inserting six red beans into his penis, then expelling them during ejaculation. Unfortunately, everything didn’t go as planned: the beans got stuck in his urethra. After vainly trying to retrieve them with tweezers, our man had to resort to going to the nearest hospital in the evening. It was therefore decided to carry out endoscopic surgery to remove the other five beans. The last one, which had gone up into the bladder, had to be removed separately. When the beans have swollen too much
If everything ultimately ended well for the thirty-year-old, other cases may prove more problematic. Doctors tell the story of another patient where the dried beans, stuck for several days, had swollen so much that it proved impossible to remove them by endoscopy.
