A 36-year-old American doctor from Denver, Colorado, has been sentenced to 158 years in prison for drugging and raping several women he met on dating apps.
Stephen Matthews allegedly lured ten women to his home to drug them and then rape eight of them between 2019 and 2023, according to CBS News.
“The evidence in this case is overwhelming,” Judge Eric Johnson said of the accused, while the victims and their families welcomed the sentence with relief.
“We are now a mighty army of survivors – and you are nothing,” one of his victims mentioned, adding that the former doctor was a “serial rapist”.
Before the judge, several victims spoke to overwhelm the accused; some of them say they struggle with anxiety, depression and paranoia.
“You drugged me, raped me and manipulated me into believing it was my fault,” one of his victims belched, according to the New York Post Sunday.
Defense lawyer Douglas Cohen said Matthews did not speak in court because he planned to appeal his conviction.
