A Kentucky senator died more than a month after falling into his swimming pool aboard a lawn mower, according to several American media.
On September 15, Johnnie L. Turner found himself at the bottom of his empty swimming pool after an accident with the machine, explained Robert Stivers, Republican senator from Kentucky, to the New York Post.
Mr Turner spent several weeks in hospital, but finally died on Tuesday evening. He was 76 years old.
He experienced “a fierce battle,” added Mr. Stivers.
The politician served in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002, then was elected to the State Senate for his district in 2021.
Since his death occurs less than two weeks before US election day, November 5, his name will still be written on the ballot, said CBS News. He had no competition.
