Des Champs climbed the sphere to raise money for Isabel, a 37-year-old homeless woman who already has twins, so she doesn’t have to have an abortion.

It took him 20 minutes to “free solo” climb the sphere, higher than the Statue of Liberty.

Although site officials don’t know how many lights were damaged by Des Champs’ climbing, they estimate the stunt cost more than $135,000.
Countless spectators saw or heard Des Champs climbing the sphere Tuesday morning; However, it was an engineer who was inside the building who was the first to attract the attention of the police, according to the report.
