The Harrods stores in London said on Thursday that hackers tried to penetrate its systems in the third major electronic attack on a retail company in Britain within two weeks, after accidents in the “Marx and Spencer” stores and the “Co-Op” group.
Harrods, owned by the Qatar Investment Agency, said – in a statement – that it recently faced attempts to unleadible access to some of its systems, confirming that proactive steps are taken immediately to maintain the safety of the systems.
It appears that Harrods and “Co-Op” were less than the attack on “Marx and Spencer”, one of the most famous retail stores in Britain, who stopped receiving clothes and household applications through its website and its application during the past seven days.
The attack on “Marx and Spencer” came during a period of warm weather in Britain, in which retailers are usually registered with an increase in the demand for summer clothes, fresh foods and drinks. The availability of some food products was also affected in some stores.
The “Bingling Computer” website, which specializes in technology, quoting multiple sources, said that the attack that the Marx & Spencer’s servers is believed to be carried out by the implementation of a piracy group known as “Skatrad Spider”.
British public companies, bodies and institutions have been exposed to a wave of electronic attacks in the past few years, which cost them tens of millions of pounds and months of turmoil in most cases.
