Passengers who expected to stroll under the Bahamas sun instead had to urgently get winter clothes, before boarding their cruise which was diverted to the Canadian cold due to a storm in the south.

It was at the very last minute that cruise line MSC changed its plans “due to unusual and rapidly deteriorating weather conditions,” Global News reported.

Already present in New York, many passengers armed with their swimsuits and sunscreen had to deal with this change less than 24 hours before the departure of the MSC Meraviglia.

This is the case of two friends Lakeya Allen and Val Montgomery, who were somewhat disappointed with this new route.

“We’re from Chicago and we wanted a change of weather,” M saidme Allen in interview on the show Good Morning America. “I never imagined we would return to cold weather.”

The mother also had to rush to a store to buy warmer clothes for her children, who only had clothes for going to the beach.

“The complexities of securing last-minute berths for unscheduled ports of call and provisioning the ship along its new route made sailing to Canada and New England the only viable option », added the company, according to the Canadian media.

The travelers who agreed to board therefore left on Saturday, as planned, but instead headed towards Boston, before sailing towards Portland and the port of Saint John, New Brunswick, where they arrived on Thursday.

Passengers who did not wish to embark were able to receive a cruise credit for the value of their trip to embark on an upcoming sea voyage.
