The French shipping and logistical services group “CMACGM” – one of the largest container shipping groups in the world – said on Saturday that it will continue to avoid sailing in the Red Sea despite its evaluation that the region has become more stable after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the resistance movement Palestinian Islamic (Hamas).
Executive officials in the shipping sector are still cautious about returning to the Red Sea, as the Houthis carried out more than 100 ships attacks since November 2023, prompting most shipping companies to convert their ships into other tracks.
“The new stability” is a positive but fragile sign for the sector, adding that safety is still a priority.
The statement added, “Given the continued tension and risks associated with commercial ships in certain areas,” CMACGM “will at the present time will continue to give priority to alternative roads, including relying heavily on the Ras Al -Raya Road,” the statement added.
She explained that policy amendments can be made on the basis of each case separately, depending on security and global operational conditions.
