The father of the 14-year-old boy who shot and killed four people at a Georgia school Wednesday should be sentenced to death for giving his son an AR-15-style automatic rifle, according to the shooter’s grandfather.

THE New York Post quoted Charles Polhamus, the grandfather of Colt Gray, the young man who opened fire in Georgia.

The 81-year-old was furious with his former son-in-law, Colin Gray.

“Spending 11 years with this crazy guy who screams every day can drive anyone crazy,” Mr. Polhamus said.

“Colt has to pay for what he did, but I’m telling you, he was motivated and his father pushed him to do what he did,” he added.

The 14-year-old boy took the lives of two teachers and two students at Apalachee High School in Winder. If tried as an adult, he could face life in prison.

Christmas present

Colin Gray, the shooter’s father, gave his son an AR-15 automatic rifle for Christmas. Charles Polhamus believes the father should pay for his lack of judgment.

“He deserves the death penalty,” the octogenarian said. His daughter received a text message from her son after the shooting, in which he apologized.

Colin Gray is also charged in the case. He faces up to 180 years in prison, as he allegedly negligently ignored his son’s signals and provided him with the gun. He faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of child cruelty.
