Three thirty-year-olds from Missouri, who had gone to a friend’s house to celebrate a Kansas Chiefs victory, were found dead two days later in his backyard, where they apparently died from the cold while their host slept on his two ears.
“Jordan (Willis) had absolutely nothing to do with their deaths. He knows neither the time nor the manner of their death, nor how or when they left his house. He did not know that they had gone out into his garden or that they needed medical attention,” his lawyer John Picerno said in a statement to “The Independent” on Thursday.
On January 7, Clayton McGeeney, 36, David Harrington, 37, and Ricky Johnson, 38, showed up at their friend’s home in Kansas City around 9 p.m. to celebrate the team’s victory together. local, the Kansas Chiefs, against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Except that at a certain point, their host, Jordan Willis, would have gone to bed, presumably leaving it to his friends to continue the evening.
It was not until two days later that the bodies of the three men were allegedly found dead and frozen in the backyard, at which point the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) made contact to notify them of the disappearance. of the three men, according to the British media.
However, several elements of the case remain unclear while a series of coincidences would have ensured that the man was not aware of the fact that the bodies of his three friends were resting in his yard.
In particular, he did not realize that the vehicles of two of them were still parked in the street in front of his house and was sleeping with traffic jams at the time when two relatives of the victims allegedly knocked in turn on his door.
“One of his people, the wife of one of the deceased, tried to contact him via Messenger on Facebook, but unfortunately, he only saw the message after being contacted by the police,” his lawyer reportedly told “The Independent.”
Despite this, Jordan Willis would not be considered a suspect in this case, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
“First and foremost, this case is 100% NOT being investigated as a homicide. There have been no arrests (or) charges and no one is in custody. There are no specific threats or concerns for the surrounding community at the moment,” he told the British media.
However, the investigation is said to be ongoing to establish whether alcohol or drugs could be involved in the incident.
