A pro-Palestine TikToker who began to tear blue and white flags from the front of a restaurant, believing that they were the emblem of Israel, would have become a laughing stock on social networks, after realizing that it was a Greek establishment.
“The time I wrongly thought the Greek flag was Israel’s and tore down the flags from the OMG restaurant,” the woman, under the pseudonym “Ambamelia,” shared in a since-deleted video on Tuesday. had reached more than 3.2 million views on TikTok, according to the “New York Post.”
In the images, republished by other users, we can see the woman filming herself as she tears down the small flags from the front of the Greek restaurant Efi’s Gyro in Montclair, New Jersey.
“Look at this shit. Free Palestine, bitch! What are you looking at? You know there is a genocide. Free Palestine!” can be seen barking at the two employees, before realizing her mistake. What? Really? Oh, I thought it was Israel – my mistake.”
The young owner of the establishment, which boasts of being “the friendliest Greek restaurant in the city”, Efi Mihalis, said she did not understand why the vandal would have chosen to publish the images, especially since the attack reportedly occurred last March.
“It was not a sketch as some people believe. It was neither planned nor calculated. The young woman destroyed my property,” she told the “Post”, specifying that the police had then been involved in the case.
The owner opened her restaurant at the age of 18 in June 2021.
On TikTok, many did not believe the veracity of the “embarrassing” images, while others laughed at the TikToker, who ended up removing her video herself.
“Our education system is failing,” wrote one Internet user, according to the “Post.”
This is not the first case of anti-Israeli vandalism in a restaurant since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, when last December, a woman allegedly threw soup at employees of a kosher restaurant in the Upper East Side of New York by accusing them of being “murderers”, according to the American media.
