A Cape Air plane that lost two wheels after takeoff made a dangerous landing at Logan Airport in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Cessna 402, which was carrying two passengers and a crew member, returned shortly after takeoff for a forced landing with only one wheel, the Associated Press reported.
The twin-engine plane was scheduled to fly to Bar Harbor, Maine, when the pilot was informed of a “landing gear anomaly,” but no one was injured in the incident.
The small plane, which landed gently on its single landing gear, tilted onto its right wing to come to a gradual stop, causing some fear among those on board.
The pilot of Cape Air Flight 1833 “completed the appropriate checklist and landed the aircraft at Boston Logan Airport” around 3:20 p.m., the airline said, without elaborating on the cause of the landing gear problem.
For its part, the National Transportation Safety Board has opened an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding this extremely rare incident in civil aviation, according to the American media.
