At least five people died and dozens of others were injured after a tornado struck Iowa, in the central United States, on Tuesday, according to authorities.

Houses were completely razed and trees uprooted by this tornado which ravaged the town of Greenfield, 2,000 inhabitants.
“Four dead and at least 35 injured following tornado that hit Greenfield and the Adair County area,” Iowa police said Wednesday, adding that the number of injuries could rise further.
Another person died when their car was swept away by the tornado, the Adam County Sheriff’s Office said.
A hospital was damaged in Greenfield and patients were evacuated to other medical centers. About a hundred rescuers began searching the debris, also announced Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.
According to CNN, the number of tornadoes in the United States in recent weeks has far exceeded normal and 800 have been recorded since the start of the year.
